Josep Bernabeu-Mestre

Josep Bernabeu Mestre, Professor of history of the science of the University of Alicante, his research activity has been focused on the Spanish and European, contemporary period dealing with, basically, the history of public health, historical epidemiology - with particular attention to the issue of the sanitary and epidemiological transition, and to the epidemiological and social-health dimension of problems as the leprosy-analysis of institutionalization processes related to the public health, occupational health and the public health nursing, and the study of the scientific exile of 1939 which affected the field of the health sciences. From 2005 he joined his lines of research the history of the community nutrition and the analysis of the process of institutionalization of the science of food and nutrition in contemporary Spain, in addition to resuming investigations of historical epidemiology to dealing with the so-called diseases of misery and poverty, with a particular attention to the pandemic of trachoma, or the analysis of sanitary and epidemiological transitions and their relationship with food and nutritional transition.
